sorry but the cheapest ram only cost atleast 75 dollars or more. And 128meg of ram isnt a good amount of memory. Try for something bigger since you have that mobo.
Well I've been searching around in various places and looking at the prices, so far, I find that you can get the best deals on ebay..
a stick of (brand new even) 128MB, DDR, 266 Mhz, PC2100 RAM goes for about $20 - 25 *on average*.. (various brands like Samsung, Mushkin, Micron -- of which I don't know anything about though)
a stick of 256MB PC2100 266MHz DDR Memory you can find for around $35 - $45 *on average*. (new or used and brands like Elixir, PNY, Crucial).
you can find a fair amount of examples like this one: "New Elixir 256 MB PC2700 333MHz DDR Memory" which was sold for $45 with Buy It Now.
So there are lots to choose from, but I just don't know what specs to look for (in reference to my original post), and was wondering if anyone can help me with that.
I've just bought 2 x brand new Elixir 256 MB PC-2700 333MHz 184 pin DDR Memory for $42 bucks a piece using Buy It Now on ebay. Seemed like a pretty good deal. Was it?
dude, good luck. If you're gonna cheap out on memory, you'll pay for it in the end with endless hours of blue screen debugging, unable to install OS' etc. I hope it doesn't happen to you. Number one rule in purchasing RAM is to get good stuff.
It's always the one thing you never suspected.
I'm not a dude, btw. Anyway, I just can get what I can afford, I'm not going to spend $100 bucks on a stick of memory (US dollars are freakn' expensive!). No one's been able to answer anything about what I've posted so far. So you guys are saying that these particular brands (Micron, Samsung, Mushkin, Elixir, PNY, Crucial) are no good? I thought it was the generic type of memory that I should be staying away from.
I never heard of Elixir, couldn't even find anything about it on the web. But $40 for 256's sounds to me like Generic. The other brands you mentioned are all good. Maybe try to get one of them.
