Wrong approach to advertise your so-called game. Don't insult people's

What's wrong with someone coming across a good RPG that most people have
never heard of and reporting it in an RPG newsgroup? Every single thing
he said about it is either definitely true, or believable.
(1) There is a review at the site he linked to,
(2) The demo is small,
(3) It seems to be quite amazing, based on what people have said on
various forums (see the long discussion on the Penny Arcade forums, for
example),
(4) Most people talking about it seem to have discovered it by accident
on forums, or by word of mouth.

Yeah, you are completely right. No game that the publisher didn't invest
millions of dollars into, that doesn't feature all the coolest DX9 graphics
effects and that doesn't even fill up one CD isn't worth calling a game.

What really impresses me with that game is that even if it's far from
complete, it's still incredibly fun. It sorts of reminds me of Sid Meier's
Pirates! but more fun. I am loving the combat from horseback. I usually
order my troups to hold their position and attack the enemy by myself. When
i'm in trouble, i run back to my troops and they kill my pursuers.
Indie developpers deserve our support and quite frankly, at 11$, this game
is the deal of the year.

He's not a spammer. He's a regular here. Pay attention.

He's obviously connected to the game in some way, but is playing 'innocent'
by lying that he came across it by accident.

Just the phrasing...he will most probably not defend himself by following up
on his original post. Plus, I have powers of perception that transcend the
puny skills of mere mortals, such as yourself.

Well, the game is a nice try at an shareware CRPG, it's free up till level
6, after which you can buy a licence for about 10 US$ - I'm quite enjoying
it.

He might be connected with the game. But I doubt it, it has like a 2 person
dev team, and I've also read discussions about this game on web forums.
Discussions that predate this one and were started by trusted forum members.
Check octopusoverlords.com for an example thread.
Also, the game is pretty ok for what it is, it's still a beta. The free
version is pretty fun, though limited. And to register it, it's only like
11 bucks. And if ya register it, ya get get all the updates(the full
version) whenever it is completed. Even if it's never completed, it's
probably still worth $11.

But the phrasing is wrong for that kind of thing.
The usual routine is a post from someone who has never posted here
before telling about the Awesome! Cool! Spectacular! game they just
found! followed by a link to the game homepage.
Whereas this guy has posted here before, used no exclamation points and
listed a REVIEW of the game not the game's homepage.

Ahh, this I guess is the "reading things that aren't there" skill.
