Help setting up encryption on netgear gateway

I recently set up my netgear wireless gateway (cgd24g). I am able to connect to the internet with it through an ethernet cable, but have so far been unable to connect wirelessly.

I've tried changing my SSID in the gateway's settings and applying WPA encryption, but when I search for my wifi network, I just see the default SSID. Help!

Have you set up a wireless network yet ? It's one thing to set up the router and connect it but then you have to go into a computer that is connected by ethernet cable and create a wireless home network.
