My Monsoon MH-500's are crackling and popping and I can't seem to figure out the problem so I'm thinking of moving up a notch. Any recommendations? I don't want to break the bank but I'd like to get some speakers that may last me a couple of years. I like to listen to Mp3s, gaming, etc.
Tia for any recommendations.

Btw I also have SB Live card that I will probably change out as well.

Your SB Live card is the problem, I had the same problem, switched to the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Soundcard, No Problems.

Before you give up on your present speaker try this. Set the Windows master volume and Wave volumes relatively low, about 50%. Compensate by using higher volume on your speakers. It's just a workaround that I read about for the SB Live "crackly sound" problem but it works for my friend. Using this tip we can't recreate the crackly sound even at the speakers' maximum volume setting. You do give up some on maximum levels but this is better than the noise.

I also think the problem is cause by the sound card. Change your speaker will not fix the problem.
