file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents

I have a new computer that I has windows 8 and I have installed Microsoft word 2010. I had a document I was working on saved on a flash drive which I used in the computers at my tafe. I saved the work before I took the flash drive and now when I try to get the file to open in my pc it comes up with this message. No other file on the flash drive has been effected they open like normal. I took the flash drive back to my tafe and it wont open on their pcs either. When I went to open it (I had already overridden the original file with the corrupt one not knowing it was corrupt and was the attest word count etc)and it didn't work I went to do a system restore on my pc to see if I could get it back that way but I hadn't organised a restore date. Is their anyone that can help please.
