A few weeks ago, I bought an AverTV Stereo card for a new computer. After trying for a couple of weeks, I never could get it to record or time-shift. I admitted defeat and took the card back and got a Pinnacle TV Pro card.

I uninstalled the old card's software and drivers, but after doing that, Device Manager and a couple of other features of Windows XP Pro wouldn't work. Using the restore function brought back the features, but also the Aver software and drivers. I finally reinstalled Windows.

I put the new TV card in...., and Windows says it found new hardware..., the old Aver card, and then it reinstalls the old drivers again without giving me a choice.

I finally managed to get the new drivers and software installed for the Pinnacle card and it works and records, but occasionally there is a glitch that I think is caused by the old drivers for the Aver card being there. I have them disabled, but I cannot seem to uninstall them without Windows Device Manager becoming inoperable again.

Does anyone know of a way, short of reformatting the hard drive again, to get rid of old drivers in Windows XP Pro? I think if I could find where Windows has the old drivers stored, and if I deleted those, when I restart it, it wouldn't find the Aver drivers to install and would instead ask for the disk for the Pinnacle card. Does that sound logical?

I would appreciate any help I could get about getting rid of old drivers!
