I was browsing Sanyo's website and happened to look at the page for the 4900
( http://www.sanyo.com/wireless/handsets/scp-4900.htm ) and noticed that it
says voice activated dialing for up to 30 names/numbers. I believe mine
only supports voice activated dialing for 6 names/numbers. Was this changed
in a software upgrade? I'm using the original software and PRL that was in
the phone when I purchased it, and haven't upgraded because I've been happy
with the phones performance. Did they change the number of voice actived
dialings on the phone, or am I mistaken on the number that I can currently
have?

Software: 1.056SP
Hardware: 0101
PRL: 10015
PRI: 0x66d4

Thanks,

Mark L.

Mark, I believe the ability has been there for 30 voice activated phone
entries all along. You might be confusing the number of voice activated
entries to the number of speed dials you can set up on the phone.

Well, per the following site -
http://www.sprintpcsinfo.com/modul [...] page&pid=9 ,
you definitely have earlier versions. The firmware / software version is
now 1.059 SP, and the most recent PRL is 10023.

You can upgrade your PRL via OTA (over the air), just by calling *2, while
you have a strong signal. If the automatic upgrade doesn't take place, just
say "PRL" on the voice prompt, and when a cust. svc. rep comes on the line,
ask them to flag your phone number. Within 10-30 minutes or so, you can call
back to *2 and the upgrade will start. Takes about a minute, and once it's
been completed, the phone will reboot.

As for the firmware/software upgrade, that has to be accomplished at your
local SPCS store.

Thanks for the reply,

In regards to voice dialing, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I know
that my PRL and software versions are way outdated, and I'm aware of how to
fix them, but I've been happy with my phones performance and signal
strength, and lack of roaming issues, so I'm just going to leave them as
they are. Only problem I'm having with my phone now is the battery seems to
be dying and I'm hoping the phone makes it till June, so that I can qualify
for some rebates on it.

Thanks again,

Mark L.
