I am buying a new computer for an audio werkstation and am STILL confused over hard drives.

this latest test in toms

sugests that that there is no real advantage to SATA but its GOT to be faster than my current baracuda 4 ata 100 right?
My problem is track count in my daw.
surely the 8 mb cach alone would make the baracuda 5 faster.

Please help.

  1. An 8MB cache will make any drive faster. I can't speak for the SATA, as I have no info on them, but I recommend you get a drive with two things:

    An 8MB cache.

    A 3 year warranty!
