In relation to my post on the trouble I was having in connecting to the net a
week or so ago, I did get my 400mhz G4 to the web (it was the extensions
manager, modem was unchecked.) But now when I try to open the OS 9.04 download
that I burned off my PC's (deferent computer, HP 6630) high speed Internet
connection I get an "Error 44" and can't use the file on the Mac. I also tried
to boot from the burned disc to no avail.
I do have the OS 9.2 and 9.22 on store bought disc's but not 9.04 or 9.1 witch
I need to install the other two I have. I also cannot seem to get on Apples
site at all with the Mac and its dile up connection but the rest of the web and
Internet work ok. I may just have to find the other two updates on disc and
bite the bullet and the bank account.

You may not have burned it in a compatible format. Try ISO 9660 format.
Also, you may have corrupted the file on download. Maybe not. But, the
think is, those are going to be either binhex'ed or .bin files, which the
PC can not read or handle, and anything else you may have stripped of some
bits since you couldn't possibly use MacBinary. It's easier going Mac to
PC than PC to Mac.

Why not try re-installing an OS on the G4(Why? It's working, don't dink
with it) and then take some time downloading the updates you need from
Apple.

If you need a bootable disc, BURN IT FROM THE MAC!

Thanks for your help Chris but I found out what I was doing wrong, I was trying
to open the file from the burned CD instead of putting it (click drag and drop)
in a folder and then use the file from there.
I do have a lot of upgrades now on my desk top and was thinking of moving them
into a folder in the Macintosh HD but I know how funny Mac's can be when you
move thing's around with out making an alias first.
All the DP3 stuff I put directly into a desk top folder I named "upgrades for
DP3". I'm sure I can move that with out screwing anything up but all the
"unstuff-it" up grade icon's are another thing completely. I was thinking about
just trashing them altogether as I have all the info on the CD's but would that
mean trouble?
