Installing hp printer drivers

just bought compaq presario, win7, 64 bit laptop. trying to install hp officejet 4500 G510a printer driver. when type in www.hp.com, it takes me to www8.hp.com and a black and white HP screen. Am running Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Takes forever to download. Save it to my docs folder. When it's done, I unzip it and run it. Steps me through the process, asks to plug printer in and then wait until it finds it. It NEVER does!! Any ideas?? (I have another older Compaq running Win XP Home...has the same problem.)
