I fourtunately do not need a new job yet. If I decide to move up that way
the company might be interesting.

I wouldn't suggest doing either with John LaGrou, but you could send
him a resume. I'll bet it would be a cool place to work. You'd
certainly have access to some great preamps and a fine listening room.

....and no pay. Pay scale up in that very depressed area of California
is almost Southern in nature. Grass Valley (since the demise of Grass
in the "tee bee biz" is similar...minumum wage for tech jobs.

I cannot speak with regard to conditions in Placer county nor to how well
Millenia pays, but where on earth do you get these ideas concerning the
Grass Valley area? While never the greatest compensators (We sometimes
refer to "the pine tree coefficient." ) the wetern Nevada county high-tech
employers are currently as competitive as ever. I know literally hundreds
of people who are doing FAR better than minimum wage (without having to
live in San Jose!) and the county unemployment rate is currently about
2/3rds of the state's.
It has been more than 15 years since Grass Valley Group was the only game
in town and you have greatly exaggerated the death of high-tech in Nevada
County!

Yeah, but I bet by rural Virginia standards, salaries are through the roof
out there.

Pretty expensive if you include the cost of a house someplace else for the
summer.
