RE: Value sound card

I've got the on board Ac97 but as I'm moving away from the classic game of UT into more modern gameplay I'm looking for a better soundcard/speaker set-up.

I'm only interested in spending the money if it'll give me an edge in FPS's ie sound of enemies creeping up behind me etc.

If there really is no advantage to be had I'll stick with on board sound and my 2.1 Yamaha speakers.

Let me hear your views and experiences.

If you do not have a pair of good speaker then I do not think you can tell the difference.

I agree with upec, but if you really want a step up, move up to a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and a good set of 5.1 surround speakers, you'll be amazed.
