Hello,
My old Kyocera 2255 (which I just reactivated yesterday because I can't
afford existing customer prices on phones) has developed a problem as of
late. The screen will blank out periodicallyand I have to do a hard
reset (i.e. take the battery off and replace) to get it to turn back on.
Has anyone experienced this kind of problem before with this model of
phone and what can I do about it?

thats typical for that model, except sprint denys that this is a known
issue. i personally know about 5 people that had the same problem with
that phone.
i took mine to the store, along with a little bit of "research" that i
did on the web about it, and they gave me a new samsung phone. that was
over a year ago though.
they'll probably try to "fix" it- and it will work, but only for about a
week, so don't let them BS you.
if you don't get anywhere with sprint, go to the hardware store and buy
yourself a t6 driver. unscrew the two screws under the battery cover,
take apart the phone- put it back together, and it will work for a
while. (thats what the tech in the store will do and then tell you it's
"fixed" )

Absolutely is - we had problems with two 2255s (my wife now has a Hitachi
P300).

I never had that problem with my Kyocera 2255 (which I thought was a
great phone). Kyocera did release a software update that supposedly
fixed the screen problem but it was also a physical problem with the
phone.

I do think the 2255 is a great phone if not for this problem. How long
did you have yours?

That's not the experience I had with a bad 2255. I took it to the
Sprint store. The tech took one look at it and said "You need a new
phone. Your phone is defective". They overnighted me a new (refurb)
one. No charge.

I had mine for about 15 months. I even had a Yahoo group for this phone:
