The Primary DOS partition will be assigned the C: drive letter with only one hard drive in the system, jumpered as the Master. To have a second partition on the hard drive, with the second drive letter assigned as D:, you must create an Extended partition with a percentage of the unallocated space on the drive, and a Logical partition must be created within the Extended partition.

This means, when you are prompted to create the Primary DOS partition with the maximum space on the drive, you must type NO, or there will be only one large partition on the disk.

Only Primary and Logical partitions can be assigned a drive letter.

(Note: This is not the same as enabling large disk support, which you must accept in order to have partitions that are larger than 2GB and FAT32.)

Note: I suggest that you used percentages when entering the size of the partitions. For example, using 50% (with the percent sign included) will split the drive precisely in half, so that each partition occupies half the drive.

The Primary partition must be set as active.

You must reboot the computer after creating partitions ... before formatting, or installing an operating system.
