I have cable modem and DSL modem in my house. I just purchased a TP-LINK TL-R470T+ Load Balance Router. I'm unclear how DHCP will be done, I don't see anything in the TL-R470T web interface for this.

How are you setting this up?

Both Modems > R470T > computer?

Modems > R470T > Router / AP?

Modems > R470T > Switch?

Both Modems > R470T > Router/AP (D-Link DGL-4100)

Currently the DLINK handles with DHCP. Also, in the D-Link I have some port forwarding setup so I can access some LAN devices remotely.

The easiest thing to do IMO would be to set the R470T to static addressing, and allow the D-Link to continue to handle DHCP.

Section 4.4.1 shows the menu where you can disable the DHCP feature on the R470T, and just configure the D-Link for static IP with whatever value you put in as the LAN address.

Should the static ip I set be on the same subnet as the LAN? Would the IP I set now become the default gateway?

How should I handle port forwarding. It's currently setup in the dlink. Do I need to move those rules to the to link,

If DHCP is turned off the same subnet should be fine. Or you could use 192.168.0.1 for the static IP and set the DHCP on the dlink to 192.168.1.1-254 if you wanted to (or something similar)

If it was me (being lazy and all) I would turn off port filtering and firewall settings on the R470T and just let the dlink handle everything.
