How can I remove messenger of my system so it wont load at startup. I've heard about a regiter hack, but cannot find it.

look in the options, there is a start with windows check box

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

thanks, but it doesnt work. I already tried that. It is really a regestry hack to prevent it from loading

It's not a Registry hack.

Scroll down until you see the instructions on the page. Then you'll be able to uninstall the program.

go to control panel/Add remove Programs/ then on the left check, Add/Remove Windows Programs (something like that) then UN CHECK MSN MESSANGER....

I don't know about the command that stark427 posted, but I know for a fact that editing the sysoc.inf file will allow you to remove Windows Messenger. This is something that can also be done in Win2K to remove hidden components, and I've edited the file many times in the past.

Thanks! I've modified the sysoc.inf file. I've searched for ,hide and replaced it with , so every windows componant were listed in the install/uninstall menu and I just uncheck it.

now I feel better!

You can't do that because it's hidden, you have to edit the file they were talking about above first.
