Not able to upgrade netgear router softwate

Trying to upgrade netgear router wndr3700v2 software.

entered id and password -
started upgrading but a window prompts saying Authentication required
The server http://192.168.x.x:80 requires a username and password.
The server says NETGEAR WNDR3700v2.

I am not sure if this is the normal ?
Since I do not know much about routers.

Appreciate any suggestion

First you should only upgrade router firmware with an Ethernet connection, not by wireless, so hopefully that is the case.

If you log in to the router from an Ethernet attached computer using its default gateway in your browser, then enter your router user ID and password, you should go to the maintenance router upgrade section. You can then either direct the router to your firmware that has been downloaded already, or it will use the Internet to get the latest update.
