It depends on the hardware. Also, if the manufacturer made a driver for the hardware for Windows 7.

XP drivers will not work with Windows 7. Some Vista drivers will work with Windows 7. It's best to use Windows 7 drivers. If your motherboard does not have Windows 7 drivers it probably is too old to use with Windows 7.
