Right Click - New Folder Only

Hello,

I have a 2t external drive connected to my Win8 machine. It' split into 2 partitions. On one of the partitions, I can Right Click and the context menu gives me all the usual choices;folder, text file, bitmap image etc. When I go to the other partition and right click I only get Folder in the context menu. Also on the top of Win Explorer in the Home tab, the New Item dropdown only gives me the Folder option as well. If I create a new folder on this partition and go into it, I get the full context menu when I right click.

What's wrong with the 2nd partition I have that it only allows me to create a new folder when I right click or drop down the New Item option?

2nd partition might be treated like a system partition. The UAC will normally restrict creating files (except for folders) in the root folder of the drive Windows was installed on, but I wouldn't expect that on an external drive.

Try this..
Right Click on My computer -> Manage -> Storage -> Disk Management -> RightClick on your drive -> Change drive letter and paths.
Give it some other letter. It worked for me.
