Both my CD-ROM drive and my floppy drive will not recognize any disks that I put into them. I am running Windows 98. Device Manager says that the drives are there and functioning properly. I deleted them and did a restart and reinstall to no avail. I can use the "eject" command on my CD-ROM drive just fine. Also, when I attempt to open my floppy drive, I can here it working. They just will not recognize any disks. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thank you.
What motherboard are you using? I've had a [-peep-] load of problems with CDROM drives in the last year. Funny thing is that's about the time I started using ECS boards with SiS chipsets. Sent two of them back for replacement, which fixed the problem. Just curious.

PS, also, what brand CDROM drives are they? I just had 2 out of 4 CREATIVE drives to [-peep-] the bed in the last month! (less than 3 month old)
Seem to have better luck with Acer/BenQ drives than most of the other "low priced" drives.
