Was surprised to hear this. The business was in the bottom floor of his
house, out in the middle of noplace. Lucky for us he wasn't far away.

I found Jeff Gilman's work on motors by far the best. Plus he was a
great guy to deal with. Very no b.s. and helpful.

Had anyone else heard this?

I'll be surprised if this is true. Steve Sadler at Blevins Audio Exchange
in Nashville could definitely provide the skinny, if not a rebuilt or used
motor.

He was still in business around 3 months ago when I bought some
replacement MTR90 capstan rollers.
