With the sync cable for this phone, the data port is basically turned
into a USB port to plug into a PC. With a female to female USB
adapter (http://www.trianglecables.com/10167.html) you basically have
a USB port to the Palm OS. Right? So, my question is, can any USB
device be plugged in this way and recognized by the Palm OS on the
i500? And more specifically, can the Earthmate GPS receiver
(http://www.delorme.com/earthmate/moreinfo.asp) be plugged in this way
to be used with Palm OS 4.x GPS software like Street Atlas USA '04 or
Pathaway 3 (http://www.pathaway.com/)? I know that the Trio 600 has
an SDIO port and can therefore use the iGolf GPS receiver
(http://www.igolftech.com/sdgps.php), but that "phone" is just too
big. I would rather have a small phone with a GPS receiver that I can
plug in when needed. If anyone has tried this or experimented with
using a USB device with the sync cable and a female to female USB
adapter, please reply. Thanks!
