More about sound card selection
  1. Santa Cruz.If thats still too expensive, you can go with one of the Hercules cards like the Muse or the Fortissimo.
  2. Hercules Digifire has 7.1 capability and is around $75.

    Pentium 4 2g
    Asus P4T-E MB
    512 PC800 Rambus
    Gforce 4 4200 ti 64mb
    Linksys 10/100 network card
    SB Live 5.1
  3. Hercules Fortissimo III (should be around $45).
Even cheaper: Hercules Muse 5.1 DVD (around $30 IIRC).
  4. at newegg.com the audigy oem (which is use) is $50..
audigy 2 with soldier of fortune 2 and hitman 2 (full versions) is only $100..

i would get one of those two unless you have some holdover grudge against creative.

    Athlon 1700+, Epox 8RDA (NForce2), Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 80GB 8MB cache, 2x256mb Crucial PC2100 in Dual DDR, Geforce 3, Audigy, Z560s, MX500
  5. Yeah, just don't but CREATIVE, unless you want poor quality and driver/hardware/OS/game issues.

My Duron 1300 eats P4's for dinner. Oh, the Celerons make a nice snack too.
  6. You must be living in the past because my audigy has none of the above issues.
