s750 speakers or hi-fi stereo?

I have put my eye on the creative gigaworks s750 for a while now, esspecially after the thg review. But i still would want to know weather this speaker system can be compared in any way to a traditional stereo. Take in mind that the s750 is quite expensive and in my country it is DOUBLE than the price in america. so where is my money better spent? $700 on the s750? or on a traditional stereo?
