I have a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 HDD (ATA133, 8MB cache) and an Asus DVD-E616 DVD-ROM Drive (ATA100, 512KB cache). It is good if I connect both devices on the same IDE channel through Master/Slave config?

My PC has gone to hell... because it's a killing machine...

yes its good. only if you want to copy stuff from one drive to the other does it make a difference.

<font color=orange><b>as you get older, your hard drive becomes floppy, but don't fear viagra is here. viagra puts the hard back in your drive!!!

It is recommended to put them on separate channel for better performance.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

in reply i said

does it make more sence now?

so if he said yes i want to copy stuff back and forth, i would then say put them on different channels. otherwise its easier to save him from the trouble.

In your situation it shouldnt matter, as the data transfer rate is only going to be low.
(cd's only transfer at up to 8Mb/sec, dvd's at 20Mb/sec)

If you experience any issues though, or if the other ide channel is free i would seperate them, just to be extra confident.

Thanks folks, I think I better separate these two devices. (That means I have to buy a new ATA100 IDE cable... there goes my lovely $2)
