Is it advisable to program on a emulator (virtual box)?

I ask because I have been trying to use Visual C++ 2010 (64bits) on Windows 7 Ultimate. So far I have not been able to learn a thing (I am new to programming in general) thanks to that buggy p.o.s..

I figure running it on an emulator/virtual desktop (virtual box for example) and programming on that to have a literal fresh start.

Oh and if any one is going to say "well you should ask Micro$oft for help..." I already tried... (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/is/vsdebug/thread/8a05c1ce-a10f-4a7e-93d4-1bbbf0539aa5 and here: http://forums.codeguru.com/showthread.php?p=2070762#post2070762). I posted those two about 9 hours ago... no luck yet.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Well... VMware player is free and it's worth a shot. You won't be able to use some of the graphics acceleration stuff that Windows natively can use but go ahead and give it a go. Don't set your expectations too high (if your computer has a real issue this won't make a lick of difference) but give it a go!
