Is it possible that depending on

+ your geographic location

+ What works indoors for you

+ Your pager and plan

+ Your cell phone and plan

+ Which if either is paid for by employer

Reasonable folks may reasonably come to a different conclusion over
whether they want/need a Pager, and there is no ONE SINGLE ANSWER???

"and there is no ONE SINGLE ANSWER."

That's it, in a nutshell.

Very true, what Phill said.

I think it's safe to say, though, that someone coming to one or more
cellular service newsgroups and touting pagers was being a bit
argumentative from the start. Hence the "contest."

Usenet isn't exactly known for ignoring such challenges :)

There is a single answer, I've owned both a pager and a cell phone.

If people want something FROM you, get voice mail and a pager. You can call
them back when you feel like it

If you run a business and have to answer customers' calls, get a cell
phone.

You've missed the point, entirely.

As Robert said, there "is no ONE SINGLE ANSWER."

In my job, it's imperative that I have BOTH forms of communication.
