How to get my wireless internet on windows 8

bought new desk top cant get my net gear wireless to work i have to use cable to router

Most desktop computers aren't equipped with a wireless adapter as standard equipment. You have to buy and install one yourself, but that's a bit pointless if the router is close enough to the computer to use a wired connection, as a wired connection is usually slightly faster and more reliable than wireless anyway.
