If interested, make me a fair offer. This is what I have up for trade:
-1980's American Fender Strat
-neck has been upgraded to a Strat copy made by Tom Anderson
-body has been upgraded to an '80s Schecter Custom Shop copper colored
Strat styled body, solid swamp ash with nitro finish. Finish has
checked over the years, so it looks really cool
-pickups have been upgraded to Fender Custom Shop '54s, which are my
favorites.
It's a great looking, playing, and sounding Strat. I paid $1200
Canadian dollars plus tax for it, which is about $1000 USD plus tax. I
wanted to sell it to get a good mic preamp, but I thought that I might
try my luck here first for a trade.

It's tough to sell a FrankenStrat for what you have into it, unless you find
someone who's looking for "just that thing" that you happen to have. Most
guitar players who might want one will just build one for less than what
you're willing to sell - or trade - yours for, IMO. Your best bet is to
throw it up on e-bay & see what you get & then apply the proceeds to
whatever mic pre you want to buy.

Kinda like my friend's uncle, who had his grandfather's rifle that he
carried during the Civil War. 'Course, the barrel had gotten pretty worn out
over the years, so someone replaced it. And the chambering mechanism went
haywire sometime in the 1870s, so that had gotten replaced too. Plus, of
course, the wooden stock had rotted, so my friend's uncle had a new one
made.
But except for the lock, stock and barrel, it was the same gun.
I have a pair of Neve 1073 mic pres that I would consider trading:
--electronics have been upgraded to a Mackie XDR circuit
--chassis was upgraded to a brand new copy of a 1202-VLZ. Looks good
now with no rust or worn out labels
--extra functionality was added, like aux sends and a tape monitor input
Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers,

This reminds me of the story about the guy who proudly still had his
grandfather's axe, although of course he'd had to replace the blade once and
the handle twice...

That reminds me of the story about the 100-year-old axe. It's only on its
third head and 7th handle <g>.
Excuse me, but that is not a Fender strat! How could you call it that? It's
an Anderson neck on a Schecter body. It's a put-together. That's fine, but
you shouldn't call it a Fender American Strat.

Sweet.. but um, it might just be me... but if the neck, body and
pickups have been replaced, how is this a 1980's American Fender
Strat?
