I have had the same laptop for 5 years. It's a good laptop just old. I used it all over via wifi and never had any issues with the speed. Last night I came home after buying a new laptop and the wifi speed is terrible.
NEW Laptop results from Speedtest.net (all results in Mbps)
Wifi: 0.34d / 4.27u <-- That's correct 0.34Mbps
wired: 28.85d / 4.40u
OLD Laptop results from Speedtest.net
Wifi: 20.11d / 4.92u
This is the normal speed from the wifi I was expecting with the new laptop. I am using Google Chrome on both computers, the same Belkin N150 router, the same websites to compare speeds. My old laptop is running Windows 7 and my new one is running Windows 8. I have downloaded the proper drivers on the new laptop and still slow speeds. I am very frustrated and looking for any advice on how to fix this.
Thank you all in advance for your helpful answers. If you need more info from me to help determine what is wrong please let me know.
Edit: Could it be that my router just isn't "on par" for my laptop?
