Before I start, this post isn't suitable for the <b>Cooler and Heatsinks</b> forums within the <b>Overclocking</b> section. I suppose it fits in here....somehow, lol!
Anyhow, my situation quite simply this:
IBM 120GXP IC35L080AVVA07 80gb HD - suspect bearing are failing
IBM 40GV DTLA-305020 20gb HD - random surface defect cropped up in DFT (Drive Fitness Test). Repaired, but for how long?
Anyhow, I want to slap these into some 5¼" bay coolers. Even if I just have the coolers for my future HD's. I want two coolers (one for each HD), since space isn't really a limit.
I have my eyes on <A HREF="http://www.dabs.com/products/prod-search.asp?action=search&tid=731&ob=price&stab=ref" target="_new">Cool Master's DCD 4002 Cool Drive</A> (<A HREF="http://www.coolermaster.com/products/hdd/hd.html" target="_new">details here</A>). But is it any good?
Being a ThermalTake fan, I was looking at <A HREF="http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Other_Coolers_and_Displays_57.html" target="_new">Thermaltake Golden Hardcano 5 Hard Disk Cooler</A> (approx 2/3 down the page). I was particulary pleased by the thermometer and fan speed controller!
I don't want anything with connectors on the front which I can't use though. Such as <b>Thermaltake Hardcano 6 Hard Disk Cooler</b>
Which cooler would be best value for £££? Bearing in mind I am in the UK and that my primary sites that I will be purchasing from one the following sites:
