Windows keeps reverting to desktop

Every few minutes when I have an application or window up (doesn't matter which one), the window goes out of focus as if I clicked on the desktop. It's been going on for months and I've restarted my pc a lot of times since then, and force quitted many things from the task manager to narrow it down but I still don't know what's causing it. It's a real problem if I'm playing a game because it just switches to the desktop in the middle playing, without warning. Here's a screenshot of my task manager if it helps:

Repair the OS by booting from Windows CD.

Have you checked for malware? It could be a hidden window popping up and taking the focus away.

I did a full malware scan and it found 3 items that I deleted and the problem still occurs.

Then you may need to repair the OS as ksiemb suggested. If you know what day this started, You might be able to do a system restore to a date prior to when it started. If it's been months though, you may not have a restore point that goes back far enough.

The problem doesn't seem to happen anymore, I guess that means for now it's gone. It looks like using antimalware worked after all.

It's always best to reboot after cleaning malware just to make sure any remnants are gone.
