i have 2 samsung 512 sticks of 2700 in my system right now.... should i sell those and buy 2 crucial 512's for 160? will i notice a difference and would i be able to set those to a latency of cas 2 instead of the 2.5 they come as and have it be stable?

Are you having any memory/stabilty problems right now? Are you planning to OC at all?

i would try to put it at cas 2 instead of 2.5... but what would that do? how do you determine the memory speeds?

i dont think i have memory issues...i have some issues occasionally but i think its software

THG did a review of the differences between 2.5 and 2
http://www.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20020507/index.html
In the bench marks CL 2 out-performs CL2.5.
If the crucial is rated for 2.5 I'm not sure if it will run stable at 2. (I've never tried it with that speed) And if it did, you may or may not "see" the differnce.
I'm not exactly clear on benchmark scores vs. what your eye can detect. The CA2 was <1 FPS faster in Q3 and in 3Dmark 2001 it was 13 points higher. I doubt I could tell the differnce between the 2, but I still want the fastest :)
Personally I run Corsair Twin512-2700LL (2-2-2-5) and I am very happy with it.

If its the new Crucial,It would'nt do you any good because they now use Samsung chips on their modules.I have some Crucial with the Micron chips that run at CL2,But you can't tell the difference from CL2.5
