Can\'t View Available Wireless Networks Windows 7

I recently had to replace my Gateway modem & now my daughters' laptop will not show ANY AVAILABLE wireless network connections around us. When I click on the icon down next to the clock it shows my wireless Gateway but I cannot connect to it. Then when I open up the Network & Sharing Center there is the (RED X) between her laptop & the Internet. I click on the "Manage Wireless Networks" it does not show any other networks & to top that off, it DOES NOT show my wireless network at ALL. Can someone please assist me with this?

It is Toshiba Satellite C655D, running Windows 7 Home Preminum 64bit. All parts in the laptop are "stock" parts.
