why do you think they never caught on? I have been using my pioneer 106s since I got it over a year ago and I still love it!

In battle Israel uses F-16's and big ass tanks, Palestine uses small children strapped to bombs. Which do you support?

Maybe most people are brainwashed by the myth that tray is more safe for the discs than slot. You don't see many CD-ROM drives, burners and home CD or DVD players with similar design.

it's too bad, slot drives save space and effort. I am one lazy bastard, I dont want to push the button to eject the tray. I can just slide the disc right in!

I was gonna get one of those but it was sold out so I settled for the tray one. But how would you get the disc out if it was stuck like the little hole you push a pin into on the tray one.

that is only with tray drives as only trays get stuck, but if ever it happened (never has) you can always open it up and remove it that way

Yeah, I don't see any problem using slot drives. Also it's really cool to see how the discs got sucked in by the machine...

I had a 106S up until late last year. Unfortunately murphies law kicked in and it stopped reading DVD's after 1 year and 1 month of operation. :frown: oh well.

I would have liked to get another, but they are devilishly hard to find with black faceplates.

I'm trying to get hold of a Pioneer DVD-106 in the UK at the moment but am not having much luck. Slot models are so much better than tray, I couldn't go back to trays!

For Uk http://www.scan.co.uk sells pioneer dvd-106s, though it is only in standard grey sort of colour.
I'm getting mine there if I can't find somewhere that sells black ones.

There is another option: GO to a hardware store and buy this stuff called 'vinyl dye'.
Its different to simple paint as it actually soaks into the plastic. giving it a streak free colouring AND its impossible to scratch or flake off.
