I'm not sure but you probably mean to say a pretty and big etc. 'spectrum analyzer' or 'visualization plug-in' (not equalizer), right? The equalizer (being huge or small in size on the screen doesn't matter at all) affects the sound coming out of your audio system by taking different frequency signals of the sound and increasing or decreasing their volume (for example adding +2dB to the 1200Hz or -1dB from around 20'000 Hz) so the character of the sound changes.
On the other hand, a spectrum analyzer takes the signal coming out and represents it with bars, colours, cool effects, etc. You can also monitor the sound with help from an analyzer.
And while I like the WMP9 overall, I hate its visualization plugins but YMMV.
yes, R2K is correct. If you want a good software EQUALIZER, you have to be prepared to spend $$$. If you want a quality visualization, there are thousands out there, it's just a matter of finding one you like.
Then just search the winamp site. There are litterally hundreds of visualization plugins available for Winamp (both 2.xx and 3). The default plugin has some decent effects too.
