I just got a 3588i as a free add-a-phone on a new Sprint PCS account. Now
I'm told there's no desktop charger available. True? If so, I'll return it
to Sprint for a tradeup. Can anyone answer the question and/or recommend a
similar quality phone. Our needs for a secondary phone are minimal. It
doesn't matter if it's a 'candy bar' or a flip-phone. No vision services
required. Dual-band tri-mode is.

TIA

Perhaps Sprint doesn't sell it, but...

http://www.nokiausa.com/nokia_acce [...] 00.html#74

lists the DCV-15.

Says it's compatible with the 3589i, which is Verizon's version of the
Sprint 3588i, should also work with the 3588i. Also works with the 3587i,
sold by Midwest Wireless. All are CDMA phones with the same body.

Check with Nokia to make sure that the DCV-15 will work with the 3588,
as they don't specifically say on the website that it does.

Get the Sanyo 4920, you won't regret it.

I don't want a ReadyLink phone (and wouldn't be using ReadyLink, so getting
one is pointless anyhow). Any suggestions for a video phone?

Well the 4920 is still a great phone, you can disable the Ready Link if you
don't need it. Last camera phone I had was the Sanyo 5300 I don't really
know anything about the newer ones.

I wouldn't guarantee it. Fry the phone while using the wrong charger and
neither Sprint nor Nokia will do a thing about it. (Nor should they.)
