I'm in need of a new router and not sure what to buy, any advise is much appreciated!!

Setup:
Router is in the basement and needs to have good range to top floor (3 storey townhouse)
I am building a NAS server for media to stream to the office and bedroom (DLink Boxee Box) on top floor from my hard wired PC in the basement
Would like 2 usb ports - 1 for storage / 1 for print

More about : wireless router buy

Your three options are no doubt very good routers but getting a connection three stories up is going to be an issue no matter which one you choose. Streaming media needs bandwidth and alot of it, especially if you plan to stream HD. Under these circumstances I always suggest a wired connection, If it is in any way possible try to get a cable to the top floor you will have the best result hand down!

Hi ngrego thanks for the response

Unfortunately wired to the top floor isn't possible as I'm renting, Would an access point upstairs that I can hardwire into be a better setup then I know the bandwidth wouldn't be full just trying to figure out some solutions.

Or would range extenders on the main floor be a better option than an access point??

Again thanks for the help

Best solution

The best device for your situation would be an Access Point with bridge/repeater functionality. A single mode AP (only works as an AP) needs a wired connection to a router or switch and will allow clients to connect over wireless.
I took the time to check out you local dealer and I found this:

This device will work in pretty much any mode you need it to, it has good range and decent quality. If this particular device (brand or price) doesn't suit you, you should look for a device with similar functionality.
My suggestion would be to start off buying one installing it and testing the signal quality. If you think that it still needs a bit more power you can always get a second one later.
At > $50 a pop, you will still have spent far less than you would have buying the single high end router and certainly have a better solution.
