I picked up Gothic 2 several months ago -- I started playing it, but for
some reason set it aside. I don't remember why, really -- I was enjoying
it. But boy, I remember it was very easy to get in way over my head! I
remember getting lost in the woods and forced to run from some monster or
other, and when I found myself among some standing stones things started to
get really ugly. I had a whole monster parade chasing me in circles.
I agree with you about mages and paladins -- mercs seemed like the best
option.
I'll have to dig that one up again after I'm done with Vampire/Bloodlines.

I was almost hypnotized into buying this title (fond memories of the
original), but was dissuaded by online reviews.

Yeah, but maybe we should count our blessings. I grew up on Defender and
Asteroids. And Galaxian and Space Invaders. And that Star Trek game where
you flew around a galaxy full of *s in your E trying to defeat of flotilla
of Ks.
Heck, I just remembered that I actually paid money to play Pong. And here
I thought I had successfully repressed that. I'll move on, now: the pathos
is killing me.

The clapping was a non-starter, then?
