Assuming i only turn the pp on after the mics are plugged in..?
i've read that turning on pp to an unpowered mic can damage it
and i've read that it does nothing, which makes sense to me
because afterall it did then what company would put out a mixer
that didn't have individual switches for each channel?
If your XLR cables are wired properly, phantom power will do no damage.
All bets are off if someone has swapped some pins around....

PP shouldn't damage a dynamic mic, but a ribbon mic is a different
story.

Pray tell?
A ribbon mic will just break faster than a dynamic if it's wired
incorrectly.
