I tried to get my land phone number transfer by Sprint rep and they said it
can't be transfer. But on the web I went to the section in SprintPCS and it
say it can be done when I put my land phone number in. How can I get thru to
find out for sure it can or can't be done?

Too many bad reps out there.

Contact Sprint PCS once more and if you get a similar answer, contact your
states Attorney General and the FCC.

All numbers nationwide went portable on May ??th (I can't remember the exact
date in may but whatever it is has passed). Prior to the May date, it was
possible in the top 100 markets only.

Unfortunately, the process is still rather complicated.

The landline phone number you are trying to move onto your Sprint PCS
phone must be in a prefix with full LNP. This is very unlikely to be an
issue, unless your local telco is literally run out of someone's barn.
I believe we're well over 99% on this one, nationally.

It is more complicated to port the number if it is in a rate center
where Sprint PCS doesn't already have a prefix. For example, if all the
Sprint PCS prefixes are in the "Metrotown" rate center, but your
landline is in "East Suburbia," then it's more complicated. That
doesn't mean that it can't be done; only that it's more complicated.

The rate center thing is not always straightforward, either; for
example, most Sprint PCS phones in Dallas are rated as Grand Prairie,
Texas, because it gives them a little bit better area from which to
receive calls as local to the landline caller.

The whole process requires having a CSR who knows what (s)he is talking
about. This is, unfortunately, a significant hurdle.
