Help me burn Operation Flashpoint

I want to back up my game, but I've made 9 coasters. It gets about 1000 read errors right in the begining and then the cd is bogus when it's done. I think the read errors are there on purpose to make the executable and autoload file off by enough kb to not work.

I've tried nero and cdclone. I'm determined to get it to work. The problem is that I need a clean copy so that the fade doesn't kick in. It doesn't do me much good to have to bring out the original all the time. I've checked cdclone's forums and I'm pretty sure it can be done but don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I'm using a Toshiba DVD Drive and a HP 9100 CD Writer

*You* said "backup".
(huh..huh..huh huh huh..huh huh..huh)

Fade, hunh? I've not had the chance to play around with that. I bet it's a lot like the SD2 protection, which screws up most drives. There's a lot of drives that can do it, but the firmware doesn't allow you too. That HP isn't going to do SD2, and probably isn't going to do Fade either. That's what these EE geeks get paid for.

So, along comes the REE (reverse elec. eng.) geeks. Head to http://www.cdrinfo.com to check on your drive and Fade. The 'patches' will come available on megagames or gamecopyworld pretty soon. I'd expect clonecd to work long before nero or cdrwin.

Which drive are you using to capture the image? Try using your HP CD-RW to make an image from the original. Swap the disks. Then burn the image to the blank. I also have a Toshiba DVD. It and others alike have problems reading the subchannels. Using the HP drive will most likely prove more successful. No promises though.

I've tried it all.

I checked out CDRinfo and basically they told me my CDRW was fine and fast, but couldn't handle the new copy protection out there. I think this is a SD2 game and HP can't handle it.

I've tried 2 HP burners, and a SONY and I got nothing. 10 coasters and a headache.

Free advice follows: Want to back up real programs, follow the link from ejsmith2 (cdrinfo) and find out what burner is the best at burning protected software. I'm not going to buy a new drive, but I'm really disappointed with the capabilities of this burner. Speed means nothing in the end. I spent $250 on this drive at the time just to get the fastest there was. Sucks to be me.

The worst part is that I have no friends with good burners so I'm stuck for the time being.

According to blindwrite your burned fully able to do a 1 to 1 copy and is listed in green for go for it. See http://www.blindwrite.com/testedwriters.htm#HP for more info. This may be old news and may not work with the newest copy protection but it couldn't hurt to look.

Found this at http://www.gamecopyworld.com:

Well I really got it this time.
First of all I do not have an original OFP cd, I have a pirated one of version 1.00. So all those who have one ripped or prated; cheer up.
My exe on the cd was already seral # diabled, all I always did was to install and apply a no cd crack. For this do everything in order.
1. Uninstall game
2. Clean registery, delete anything relating to codemasters
3. Download original OFP 1.2 patch
4. Do unsafe disk procedure as told many times in this forum
5. When u get the rebuilt exe after dump, install OFP from CD
6 When asked for serial #, don't skip rather try these
1VJX ZXS9M 6E7TK 7RJTD 189NF
hj1e-b91dn-p1pfm-p1747-a7ake
M3CZ-P5186-XNEYL-CL0T7-513NT
Becareful these are case sensitive. The first one worked for me.
7. After installation, upgrade through the new rebuilt exe u got
through unsafedisk dumping and rebuilding.
8. Reeboot
9. Install the no-cd crack available at http://www24.brinkster.com/itfpcgamer thankx to chaos
10. Play for atleast 48 hrs Just kidding.

I see no fade nor anyother glitch. My copy was pirated and it worked. So will yours.
For people who are saying their comp freezes while dumping, remember WIN9X is not a good platform for these kind of things, specially if you have ram less or equal to 128. Try Nt for this or best W2K with atleast 256mb ram. My dumping and rebuilt process took atleast 4 minutes. I have a PIII 733 with 256 Ram and Win2K.

Goodluck all of you.

Doggie.
