The manual for my new Asus board says PC1600 and 2100 are supported, but Crucial Tech's RAM finder is convinced that PC2700 will work with it too (which it should).

But will it provide any benefit? o_O DDR btw.
Edited by Anunikoba on 03/05/03 03:25 AM.

RAMs are downward compatible, that means PC2700 should work on a mobo that supports up to PC2100 memory. One benefit that I can think of is PC2700 RAMs allow extra room for overclocking.

Yeah, I thought about teh OCing, but I just wasn't 100% sure on if it would work. Better safe then sorry, right? :p

Thanx!

Always get the highest quality, fastest memory you can for your money. All of it slows down if needed.

That includes both DDR and SDR SDRAM. I've used PC133 Cas2 on old TX chipset Pentium 1 systems. Why? Why would I want to pay as much, or MORE, for slower memory? When I buy the fast stuff, I know it will work in some of my OTHER systems!

The only thing that seems to be an issue with backwards compatability of ANY SDRAM is Memory Density. This is laid out plainly in the first post lables "THGC FAQ..." and shouldn't affect a board as new as yours!
