Hi there, i needed to buy a sound card and i need some suggestion.

I need one of the absolute best cards (which price doesn't exceed 500$, i don't need some uber 2000$ card just yet) for sound recording and playback quality.

However, i aslo need this card to be stable, relatively problem free as well as pretty decent with games.

Consider that right now i have an Audigy 1 platinum Ex, so i am basically set for all this needs, i just need better :D

BTW, i also need the best set of speakers money can buy (again, without going sky hight), strinkly for sound quality when play music...
Edited by Stargazer_SG1 on 03/05/03 10:43 AM.

You don't really speak as though you know what you want.

The best card for sound recording and playback quality would be the RME Digi96/8. 2/8-channel SPDIF/ADAT digital I/O card cinch/optical. It has it all, and sounds absolutely fantastic. Retails for about $2-300 US.

For the sound, get an external AV receiver and tower speakers. I recommend my setup. Harman Kardon AVR225 (5.1 output, 55wx2/65wx2), two Athena S2 bookshelf speakers and two Athena P3 woofers. I get better than 95dB, and that sounds better than most anything you've ever heard. It all retails at about $2100 US.

This will give you the best stereo imaging you have ever heard.

Good enough for you?
