I have a ECS k7s5a mobo with at Seagate Barracuda IV 80gb 7200RPM ST380021A hard drive and I am having a large problem with the two. I start up, and the HD is detected, I go into cmos make sure everything is peachy and get out of bios and put in Red Hat(linux operating system). I get past the media test and afterwards I get a message saying that I have no HD installed. So I popped in Windows 98 and I get a similar message. Im really not sure why this is, and it is quiet distressing. Any advice anyone could give to remedy the situation would be much appreciated.

Have you tried making a partition on that drive?
