Is there a different? usb 1.0 & 2.0 cable

Is it really faster with a usb 2.0 cable? Or just squeeze out more money from my pocket? Same header, same metal, how's the different? Need some one to explain & confirm that. Thanks.

If you're asking if USB 2.0 is faster than 1.1, then definately. USB 2.0 runs at like 500 mbps. USB 1.1 runs at maybe 11? I don't know the exact numbers, but it's crazy good. Now, just using a USB2.0 cable with a USB1.1 hard drive won't make the hard drive any faster. And you'll only get the benefits if you have USB2.0 ports on your computer.

I'm talking about the cable, not devices. If my two devices are usb 2.0, and connected by 1.1 cable, will the cable slow me down? My question is what is different between a 1.1 & 2.0 cable?

It may be that the usb 2.0 cable that has a higher price has extra shielding, allowing for longer cable lengths.

Or they could be just ripping people off.

I think it's just a peace of mind if you're using a so called usb2.0 cable which high speed data transfer is ensured. Has anyone actually conducted a test to prove that two types of cables are the same?

I agree. The usb 2.0 cables are probably certified to run at 2.0 speeds, while the 1.1 cable, although they can run at 2.0 speeds, are not. The extra shield won't matter to most people if you're not running excessive lengths.
