Is it worth getting pc3200 speed memory, if i'm running an xp2800 on the asus a7n8x mb? Doesn't the fsb of 333 on the processor limit the speed of the memory?

It depends if you are going to overclock your fsb up to 400, then both the cpu and ram can run at 400 mHz. So, if your going to overclock, then get the pc 3200.

Yeah... it's always good to have that provision. I regretted bying slower ram than I could have. It's not that much more so go for it.

If you plan to overclock then ram that runs faster then the normal fsb of cpu is always better as it allows you to up the fsb without worrying about the memory not being able to handle it. If you don't plan to overclock then stay with the pc2700 ram and run it synchronously with your cpu and then you maximise performance and minimize your cost.

That being said it might be good to buy faster ram if you plan to later buy a upcoming "400mhz fsb barton" AXP.But since your getting a 2800+ I don't see you having to upgrade anytime soon.

Runing the memory at DDR400 with the CPU at DDR333 might not give you a performance lead. But the last guy mentioned overclocking...say you overclock your CPU bus to 190MHz. Well, running your CPU at DDR380, it would be handy to have memory that doesn't crap out at DDR380. At what's more, your NEXT CPU might be a "400MHz bus" Barton. You don't really want to upgrade your memory every time you upgrade your CPU, now do you?

By then you get a new board and new ram and overclock that to the moon and back ;)
