Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which is the best surfing
simulation for the PC? I prefer text-based. Thanks a lot!

The WWW is pretty good, a lot of people play it.

I'm sorry. This being a sports related newsgroup, I assumed people would
understand what I was referring to. I am talking about surfing the sport,
where a guy stands on a board riding a wave in the ocean. That is the
surfing I am talking about. I would like to know which is the best surfing
simulation game for the PC. I would prefer a text-based game, text-based
meaning that the game concentrates more on gameplay than pretty graphics.
Sorry for the confusion. I should have been more clear in my first post.

I searched the web for "Lynx" but all I found was a browser. If there is a
surfing game for the PC called Lynx, please post a link to any information
about it. Perhaps you are thinking about LINKS, which is a golf game, not a
surfing game.

I'm just trying to get some helpful information. How does that inconvenience
you?

Text-based? Surely this is a joke. Ain't it? :)

Lynx is a text only web browser. There is no surfing sim that I know
of.

So you want a game that does:

You are standing on a beach, there is a surf board on the ground.

>take board

You take the surf board

>walk into water

Your feet feel cold.

>get on board

You are on the surf board

>paddle out to sea

You are paddling out to sea, you are getting tired.

You can see a large wave approaching.

>turn board around and stand on board

You stand up just as a large wave hits you.

You have wiped out.

You are standing on a beach, there is a surf board on the ground.

There used to be one a few years ago called Ty Gardner's Wipe Out. You could
build your own board from scratch. As far as I know, you can't even buy it
now. If anyone has it and is willing to sell, I'd be willing to pay up to
$50.00.

Are you interested primarily in 'replay' surfing' or do you want a 'career
surf' mode?

I would prefer a career mode. I'd like to be able to design my own board and
be able to upgrade it as I progress through the game.

I'm almost positive I saw a press release a few months ago that said one of
the recent surfing movies was coming to DVD and that it was going to include
a PC version of Kelly Slater's surfing game. Sorry, that's not much to go
on, but it's all I remember.

There is a MAC version out as well, I think.
