How do you know if your usb stick is working

Hello, I have a Strong SRT 5410 set top box. I have downloaded the software file to the usb stick. I put it in the back of the stb and the box says NO USB STORAGE. Can someone help me please. Tks Lesley

Try the USB in a computer, and see if it works there.
If you have a mac and it doesn't come up, open disc utility and see if it is there otherwise open device manager (for windows)
If it doesn't show up then its stuffed...
