How long for Vision to activate?

Hey gang-

My wife and I finally retired our SCH8500s yesterday and got two new
A680s. A day later, they still are unable to connect to any Vision
services (yes, we switched from the old Wireless Web to Vision when we
bought the phones.)

Should it be taking this long for Vision to go active? Thanks!

Dave

Should be minutes of they do it right. And make sure they adjust the
billing to start only when your Vision starts working, not when you
asked for it.

It could. Suggest you call from a landline to 888-211-4727 and ask for
Vision tech support.

Thanks gang- it magically went active about 15 minutes ago. Total of
about a 24-hour delay.

No, Vision takes from a few minutes to four hours. Longer if system
maintenance is in progress on the provisioning systems.

One day is too long. What happens when you try to use it?

I'm curious. Did you buy it from a SPCS store?

The retail systems used to activate phones at 3rd party retailers
like Best Buy seem to love dating everything for the next day.

Yes- bought it from an actual SPCS-operated store (Lenox Mall- Atlanta).

Actually, I need to go back there still, since their computer to
transfer phonebooks has been down all week. They said that once it's
back, it'll be possible to transfer the phonebooks from our old Samsung
SCH8500s to our new Samsung A680s. I dread having to type all that! ;)

I probably need to call account services too. For one thing, in the
process, they somehow changed my wife's @sprintpcs.com email address.
They didn't mess mine up (good thing), but they randomly assigned here
one, though we've had the same Sprint phone numbers and email addresses
for about 4 years. Why would they do that?

Thanks!

Dave

Did it to my wife too. We had a Kyo 2255 which was not Vision-capable and
she switched to a P-300 which is a Vision phone, and I think the deal is
that they provision Vision services automatically upon activation of a new
Vision phone, because you can *use* it even if you don't pay monthly for it.

But as far as I know she didn't have an @sprintpcs.com email address before.

Yep, my wife and I both used the old Wireless Web with our SCH8500s, and
we both had longstanding @sprintpcs.com email addresses. Fortunately
they didn't mess up my email address when switching to Vision, but hers
is gone.

I just got off the phone with Vision support, and even they can't give
her back her old email address. They get the same error message that I
do when I try to do it online- they get a message that that email
address is already in use. Of course it is- by my wife- but she can no
longer access it! When she logs into PCS mail, it takes her to the new
email account that they randomly assigned!

Oh well- she said she'll think of some new address and maybe we can
change it to that.

Call back, and insist they escalate. If they can not correct their error
call Executive Services and demand compensation for the grief of
changing email addresses involuntarily. (817) 215-3150

Once an email account is deleted from a Vision subscription, the name
is put into a sort of "hold" database for (I think) 30 days. After
that, if no one else tries to take it, you may be able to get it
back.
